My husband informed staff multiple times in advance and on the day (by phone, at reception and in the café) that it was my birthday. Not one member of staff acknowledged it. A simple “happy birthday” would have taken seconds - the complete lack of care set the tone for the day.
The spa itself was overcrowded and very noisy. There were virtually no relaxation areas unless you secured a room, most of which were already taken. The changing rooms had only two cubicles, which is completely inadequate given how busy it was.
We booked a 50-minute stress relief ritual. My treatment lasted 40 minutes and my husband’s just 35 minutes. That is unacceptable. There was no personalisation, and my husband’s therapist was unprofessional and appeared disengaged.
The prices for both the spa day and the treatments were extortionate. For what you charge, you would expect a far higher standard of service, professionalism and overall experience.
Afternoon tea was equally disappointing. We asked to swap the salmon sandwiches for extra cheese and tomato (which was already on the menu) and were refused due to “allergies,” which made no sense. Café service was slow and unfriendly. Once our food arrived, no one checked on us, and our plates were left sitting on the table long after we had finished. The sandwiches looked poorly prepared, desserts were average, and the scones unremarkable.
This was the least relaxing spa day we have experienced. We visited prior to the refurbishment and had a lovely time, so this decline in quality is particularly disappointing.
My husband emailed on Monday 16 February and is still awaiting a response.
Overall, this felt like a money-making operation with little regard for customer experience. I would not recommend.
