点评:From their website: What began as an acquaintance as winemakers in the Hill Country became a collaboration between William “Bill” Blackmon and Chris Brundrett; one that’s based on a shared winemaking philosophy and a vision for what the Texas wine industry is capable of. Bill and Chris agree that great wines are not made, but grown in the vineyard. They also believe that wine should be inspired by the pleasure that is shared with an extended community of friends and family over a bottle.
This was our second stop on a day of wine tasting in Fredricksburg. It was the largest of the three wineries we visited, and seemed to be the most business-focused as opposed to the smaller wineries that were very friendly, outgoing, and operated on a much smaller and flexible scale. We checked in and were “assigned” a sommelier for our tasting. Trey was our assigned taster sommelier and was very laid back, full of information on when and how the winery was created, provided an abundance of info on why the grapes of the Texas High Plains are preferred, and how the relationships are developed between the Hill Country wineries and the growers in the High Plains. I felt that I had essentially taken a class on Texas wine history by the time we were done. It was very interesting. The wines we selected were nice, with a good selection of both reds and whites. We chose to purchase a bottle of the Tennat Estate Red (it was the best tasting and was offered as a bonus tasting at the end) as well as a bottle of the Mary Ruth. Bottled since 2010, this wine pays homage to Mary Ruth Blackmon, the beloved matriarch of William Chris and the mother of founder William "Bill" Blackmon.
Overall, a wonderful tasting experience. We will bring friends and family that visit us to this winery in the future.
