点评：BADLY RUN I was really looking forward to today. I even took the day off work so my boys could enjoy the inflatable at the lido.
Parking was difficult, which was expected, and after a 20-minute walk back from where we eventually found a space (£5 for all-day parking), we arrived excited for the day ahead.
When I booked, I clearly stated that I would be spectating while my children swam. I also entered both of my children’s ages. Due to a medical condition that leaves me immunocompromised and at a significantly higher risk of skin cancer, I cannot spend time in the pool. I explained on arrival that my children would be swimming while I watched from the side.
The receptionist put a wristband on my 8-year-old son and told me he would be fine as he was over 8. He was also wearing a buoyancy aid, and there were several lifeguards supervising what is a relatively small pool, so I had every confidence he would be safe.
We found a bench in the shade and settled in. My son excitedly went to enter the pool, only to be stopped by a lifeguard who said he wasn’t allowed in without me. I explained that the receptionist had just told me he could. I was then told, “Well, it’s not.”
I went back to the reception area to question this, feeling upset and frustrated by the conflicting information. A senior lifeguard then approached me, followed by a manager, who immediately asked if I was getting into the pool. I said I would have to if that was the only way my son could swim. He then told me I would have to pay an additional admission fee just to accompany my child into the water.
At that point, there were two conflicting issues: I had been told my son could swim without me, then told he couldn’t, and when I tried to resolve it by entering the pool, I was asked to pay extra. We decided to leave rather than let the situation spoil the day any further.
The only positive part of the experience was the lovely local ice cream shop nearby. They could see how upset we were, kindly cheered my boys up with ice cream, and turned the day around before we headed to the beach instead.
Very disappointing customer service and inconsistent communication. A full refund would be the least I would expect after our experience.
(I have since looked at your own published rules, which state that those wearing buoyancy aids are permitted to use the inflatable but must exit before the main slide. The rules also state that only children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an appropriate adult. As Kylo is over 8, was wearing a buoyancy aid, as well as being assist by his teen brother and your receptionist confirmed he was fine by issuing him with the correct wristband, I had every reason to believe he was allowed to participate in accordance with your own published guidance.) A spectator fee is expected to be paid on entry btw!! Something else which isn’t mentioned on the website or something you can select so I got that surprise when I turned up but I paid this! Didn’t bother me but now I look back the girl did feel bad for asking me for it… which I don’t know 🤷🏼♀️ if this is a genuine fee or not!
