Very disappointing experience with Kareem The Explorer.
During our 4D3N tour, the boat’s engine broke down after 2 hours and we had to wait around 9 hours for a new boat. Mechanical problems can happen, but the real issue was the very poor backup plan and organisation afterwards. The crew also told us that the engine had not been properly checked before departure, which made the situation even more frustrating.
Instead of having an effective backup plan, the schedule simply fell further and further behind, and we ultimately ended up about a full day behind the original itinerary.
Because of this, the crew then had to make up more than 24 hours of lost time. This completely changed the trip. We were unable to do the planned snorkeling activities and, apart from a very rushed visit to Komodo Island, we did not visit any of the other islands or sites that were supposed to be part of the tour.
In practice, we spent around three days almost entirely on the boat, without being able to get into the water. That is obviously very different from the island-hopping and snorkeling experience that was advertised and paid for.
Importantly, I raised these problems and requested a refund while I was still on the boat — not only after the tour had finished. The guide told us on the boat that the costs for the missed activities would be refunded.
The company is now suggesting that I should have raised the issue with the guide during the trip, but that is exactly what I did..
After the trip, I contacted Kareem The Explorer again to request the refund that had already been discussed on board. Instead of resolving the issue, responsibility is now being pushed back to the guide.
We paid for a 4D3N Komodo islands and snorkeling tour, not for three days of sitting on a boat because there was no effective backup plan after a mechanical failure.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise other travellers not to book this tour with Kareem The Explorer. The lack of preparation, the poor contingency planning, the amount of the itinerary that was missed, and the way the refund request has been handled afterwards were all extremely disappointing.

实际上……我们花了大约三天时间几乎全程都待在船上，根本无法下水。这显然与宣传中承诺且我们付费购买的环岛游及浮潜体验大相径庭。
重要的是，我在船上时就提出了这些问题并要求退款——而并非等行程结束之后才提出。导游当时在船上承诺，未能进行的活动费用将会予以退还。现在，这家公司暗示我本应在旅途中向导游提出这个问题，但事实上我就是这么做的。
旅行结束后，我再次联系了“Kareem The Explorer”，要求退还之前在船上已经谈妥的费用。然而，他们非但没有解决问题，反而把责任推给了导游。
我们支付费用是为了参加为期4天3晚的科莫多岛潜水观光之旅。绝对不值得为了那样一趟行程而在船上坐上三天——因为在出现机械故障后根本没有有效的应急预案。
