点评:Came to the farm for waffles and my 3-year-old nephew wanted to pick berries. We were told by the workers that the fields were quite sparse and we would likely have to pick for an hour to get a full basket worth. I’m pregnant and my nephew doesn’t do well in the heat for long periods of time. We decide to pick because my nephew hasn’t gotten to pick yet this season and we wanted to be quick because he did not eat his waffle and were almost ready for lunch (pregnancy hunger is real). So we made our way to the field with our one $5 basket so that three of us could pick to be really fast and just have the experience together. It was only after the basket was purchased that we were told that every adult who goes onto the field has to have their own basket, so if I wanted to go with my sister and nephew I had to fork over another $5 for berries that I did not want (not to mention blackberries grow literally everywhere including on my own street). I wasn’t going to eat any and just wanted to make the picking faster and did not want to wait for them in the heat while they picked for an hour. When we asked for a refund so that we could pick elsewhere the refund was refused despite us not having picked any berries yet. Other negative reviews here have said that the manager gave them a gift card after they had a poor experience picking berries and was very understanding. Today’s manager was not. She was incredibly power hungry, unsympathetic to a hot, hungry three-year-old and a pregnant woman with a furnace growing inside of her, and told me that if I’m going to the farm I should be aware of their policies without having to be told them in advance. She told me there was no reason for me to be on the field if I wasn’t picking my own berries, when I’d argue that going to help pick to be faster in the heat and having the experience for the summer with my nephew is reason enough. Krause has become increasingly overpriced and money hungry. Instead of paying for u-pick berries by weight you have to purchase a basket and fill it as full as you can to get your moneys worth. If you don’t want to pick anymore and your basket isn’t full or there aren’t enough berries to fill it, too bad so sad that you paid for a full one. The fact that every adult on the field needs a basket is their way of getting yet more money from their customers instead of ensuring that everyone is welcome to experience the joy of a little one picking his own berries. At the very least the manager should have been empathetic to the situation, apologized and been open to refunding us for a service we did not want. Because of their unwillingness to put the customer first, my sister and my nephew went picking without me and I was left to sit alone waiting in the heat experiencing my elevated hormonal emotions. I felt completely disrespected as a customer by a power/money hungry manager. Someone who was a loyal customer is now turned off of the farm as a whole and will not be returning in the near future. Companies should be putting the customer first and should not be refusing a refund for a service we decide we no longer want and should not enforce policies that are strictly there to make money and put the customer second to money. They also told us that the more abundant fields were being “saved for the weekend” as if to say “weekday customers can suck it and spend hours scrounging in the sparse fields in the heat”. Extremely disappointed.
