Beautiful reputation, disappointing reality
Champneys Henlow Spa的点评
点评：We chose Champneys Henlow for our first wedding anniversary, deliberately selecting it over other comparable resorts based on its reputation. At £450 for an overnight spa break, our expectations were high. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of what is advertised.
On arrival we were shown to our room and left to find everything ourselves. No orientation, no map, no guidance - in a large and complex resort this wasted a significant amount of our stay. We watched other guests receive a full walkthrough.
The outdoor pool was closed despite warm, sunny weather and the hydro pools were closed for maintenance. These are explicitly advertised as part of the package. We were not informed of these closures prior to arrival, which would have allowed us to make an informed decision.
Poolside seating was almost impossible to access due to towel-hoarding guests reserving beds for hours while absent, with no intervention from staff. The beds themselves were ripped and the cushions visibly stained to a degree I was not comfortable using. I sat for two hours watching an entire row of reserved beds sit empty.
My 50-minute facial left me with significant shoulder pain that woke me during the night and persisted for the rest of the stay — not the relaxing experience promised. The food was also below standard; a mushroom linguine at dinner appeared to contain tinned, undercooked mushrooms and breakfast was equally disappointing for a resort of this calibre.
The corridor carpets throughout the hotel were dirty and poorly maintained, and our room felt dated and tired.
Champneys did respond to my formal complaint and offered a partial refund, which I appreciate. But the experience itself did not come close to what is sold. If you are considering this for a special occasion, I would strongly recommend researching alternatives. The brand's reputation currently exceeds its delivery.

我做了50分钟的面部护理，结果肩膀剧痛，夜里疼醒了，而且整个入住期间都一直疼痛难忍——完全没有达到宣传的放松效果。食物也低于预期；晚餐的蘑菇意面里似乎用了罐头蘑菇，而且蘑菇都没煮熟，早餐对于这家度假村的档次来说也同样令人失望。
酒店走廊的地毯又脏又破，我们的房间也显得陈旧过时。
Champneys确实回复了我的正式投诉，并提供了部分退款，对此我表示感谢。但实际体验与宣传相去甚远。如果您打算将此作为特殊场合的住宿选择，我强烈建议您另寻其他方案。该品牌目前的声誉远低于其实际服务水平。
