Terrible experience. Waste of Money. Poor customer service
Private tours in Kazakhstan的点评
点评：We booked a 4-day private tour around Almaty region. The tour was highly disappointing from the beginning to the end. We have been with multiple tour operators in Central Asia & Kazakshtan, and this is by far the most disappointing experience.
We paid extra for an English tour guide. Didn’t talk to us throughout the trip, we always had to ask questions and he’d be annoyed to answer. Didn’t explain anything at all!
First of all, on the first day, the driver left us in a gas station leaving with our belongings. I find it absurd to make such a mistake in a private tour with only two people. He never apologized and continued to make fun of it and tell other people.
Secondly, we have been left alone in multiple locations without explanation. For example, one of the main reasons we selected the company for the 4 days tour is to go to the singing dune. The driver/guide left us at the entrance without coming or telling us how to climb up. We ended up not going because we were not sure if it was safe with wind. As you can imagine, this meant that we pay a day without much value (such a long drive for nothing). Also, the driver/guide did not come with us for the trekking from Kolsai 1 to Kolsai 2 and we ended up getting lost a couple of times during the trail. Finally, he also did not come with us for the Canyon.
Thirdly, the driver/guide was not explaining anything of what we were going to see, and we found it very annoying that we need to ask all info such as how much travelling time to next destination or how long the stop /walk. Also, he was barely talking even during lunch and dinner. He just finish his food and then stands up and goes away meanwhile people are still finishing their meal. Also, he only speaks to the same nationality in the guesthouse. We were seating at a dinner table without knowing anything. This is not enjoyable and also rude in most cultures.
We were just lucky that the host at the guesthouse in Saty Village was kind enough to try to speak to us even with little English knowledge —which we appreciated so much.
Fourthly, we paid for a private tour which should come with the added comfort and convenience. The driver was stopping at his own pleasure for smoking or going to the mini market without even announcing it or asking whether we needed to go for a pee or buy something as well. Very little caring about the guests!! Once, we even stopped to a river for him to take a bath while we never stopped in nice viewpoints.
Also, he didn’t let us order during lunch and he always orders the cheapest item in the menu all the time. We paid a good amount of money not to be treated like this.
We didn’t understand anything about Kazakhstan because of him. We left the country without knowing the culture, food, history, sites, etc.
