An attractive square on the outer rim of the old town - the house where Picasso was born is on the top corner. But some rather unsavoury people hand about here too - the restaurants on the far side don't look anything too fantastic
This is a monument to liberal martyrs, killed under the autocratic regime in the 1830s (if I'm recalling correctly). But more than that, it's a very pleasant square, with beautiful purple blossom in May and a number of decent restaurants around.
We visited the house where Picasso was born, sat next to his seated statue and relaxed in the square whilst in Malaga. This restaurant area is cheaper and less crowded than in the old town centre, particularly the adjoining street leading to the Alcazabar area.
This Plaza is famous in Malaga for the statue of Picasso sitting at the bench. To take a picture with him here is a must. Around is his Museum of him and lot of culture to look on. Many restaurants to just sit down and relax.
This was 2 minutes walk from where I was staying so I sat here at least once a day every day. All the bus tours, walking tours etc. came for a look around.
