点评:My grown up daughter and I went swimming with whale-sharks in LaPaz. We had done a lot of research regarding operators offering this opportunity and decided to go with ‘Eco Migrations’ and we weren’t disappointed.
Whale-sharks normally arrive in La Paz in October, yet this year (for whatever reason) we were amongst the first people afforded the opportunity.
The local authority governs the number of boats and people that are allowed to visit the areas where the sharks feed - in order to protect these fantastic fish.
We set off from La Paz at 0800 and after having our trip authorised by the port authorities we were allowed to proceed to the feeding grounds.
The guides, Jose and Erin and the boat skipper, Martin were fantastic. What really impressed me were two things - firstly their determination to find a shark which the group of five (of us) could swim with and secondly how important the health and safety of their clients was to them.
As for the experience itself - it was brilliant to be able to swim near to these massive underwater giants. The experience itself was enhanced by the fact that we saw a number of other whale-sharks we didn’t swim with as well as dolphins and hump-backed whales.
Overall I’d grade the experience as fantastic!
