Railway Carriage Museum的点评
点评：I travelled on carriages like the one at Rayne many years ago and I have always loved the layout of the seats and how comfortable they are. Over the years these carriages have travelled the length and breadth of the country.
Sadly their lives on the mainline are over but some are still in use on preserved railways and it was lovely to visit the one at Rayne. I parked up on the road next to the former station and had a short walk along the Flitch way which is on the trackbed of the former railway line from Braintree to Bishops Stortford.
The Carriage Museum has some carriage seating with lots of information about the line from the two towns and the types of trains that travelled on this route.
There are books to be purchased and there is also a model replica of the former railway station at Rayne including the sidings. Apparently it was quite a busy station back in the day.
There was a volunteer there to answer questions that I had. After visiting the museum I had to visit the station cafe where there was a mouthwatering selection of snacks and drinks to be purchased. I had the red velvet cake which was AMAZING!
Well worth visiting if you are in the area.
