Terrible animal living conditions
Slakki Petting Zoo的点评
点评：A little over a week ago, I visited the Slakki Petting Zoo in Selfoss with my husband, my 3-year-old daughter, and another couple with a child of the same age. I had no idea what I was walking into, and I deeply regretted buying the tickets.
To begin with, all the animals live in tiny spaces where the lack of proper feeding and hygiene is taken to the extreme. In the parrot cage, we saw a field mouse—which clearly wasn't part of the zoo's collection—eating their food right inside the cage, without a single staff member noticing. The minuscule enclosure housing two small pigs was covered in feces; when one of them tried to drink water from its bowl, it only found a small puddle of yellowish water that looked like urine or highly contaminated water, and the pig ultimately walked away without drinking. The open turtle terrarium had its food container right next to it, completely within reach of all visitors.
We then moved to an area with rabbits and guinea pigs meant for holding. The animals were passed from hand to hand, and the staff did nothing more than take them in and out of their cages/enclosures, without supervising how the visitors were handling them. As for the fish tanks, both were extremely dirty and also filled with waste. Two puppies were kept in a very small enclosure with a staff member, barking and running around in circles. Overall, the animals looked unhealthy and dirty. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of what I saw, but I would be surprised if I were the only person reporting such a deplorable situation at this place.
On top of all this, there were dangerous loose wires, rusted objects everywhere, and even a jug of flammable material within reach of the children.
I must repeat that I deeply regret this visit.

之后，我们去了兔子和豚鼠的抱抱区。动物们被随意地在人与人之间传递，工作人员只是把它们放进笼子/围栏里，并没有监督游客如何对待它们。至于鱼缸，两个都极其肮脏，里面堆满了粪便。两只小狗被关在一个非常小的围栏里，只有一个工作人员在旁边，它们不停地吠叫和绕圈跑。总的来说，这些动物看起来既不健康又脏乱。很遗憾，我没有拍下照片，但我相信肯定不止我一个人在这里看到了如此糟糕的情况。
