WWII Spitfire Simulator - Yes Sir!

点评：I'll start this review with the bad news - the Spitfire Simulator is closing in February 2026 and will be being dismantled and taken away. This is such a shame that we are losing what I feel is a genuine link to a critical part of this Nation's history.
The simulator itself is a genuine spitfire, with working controls (throttle, RPM, undercarriage, rudder pedals, stick, etc.), dials (altimeter, speed, etc.) and buttons from genuine Spitfires. It's hooked up to a very realistic flight simulator, think real world physics 🤯 and a 15 metre wide projector! You start from Blackpool Airport (where this experience is/ was located, which I think is a great touch) and then you fly past Blackpool Tower, over Morecambe Bay, then Windermere, then Thirlmere before heading out to the coast at Whitehaven, doing a couple of flybys on an Aircraft Carrier before landing on a grass strip at Walney Aerodrome - most of it low level, nap of the Earth stuff, dressed in the real gear including a parachute!
Flight time about an hour of intense, enjoyable concentration getting a tiny flavour of what this amazing machine was like in real life and the amazing people who flew in them - what an honour.
All of this chaperoned by the amazing Andrew - great pre and post flight (tea and chocolate in the NAAFI) loads of knowledge and stories, not just about the Spitfire. Thank you, you were great!
