Spitfire Visitor Centre的点评
点评：The Spitfire Simulator was VERY impressive.
The owner has built it himself taking over 5 years, and is as close of a realistic experience to flying a real spitfire I imagine there is. The attention to detail and realism within the cockpit was amazing. Within an actual spitfire containing a genuine spitfire control dial console directly connected to the computer programme reacting and responding to your inputs, even down to the starting of the engines, meant it was such a high quality and immersive experience. He even has a separate external control panel so you can clearly see the dials and controls as part of the induction before entering the simulator. You fly low over well known land marks, down through the valleys in the lake district as if on a real bombing campaign reaching an aircraft carrier out at sea as the target, all extremely exciting and felt as though it had only been 10 minutes when the hour long mission was complete! Andrew was extremely knowledgable and I can see just how passionate he is about the project. Unfortunately, he advised that this experience will soon be closed due to lack of interest, I find this extremely sad and such a shame being such a truly exceptional bit of kit going to waste. I think with a bit of extra advertising targeting the right groups of people will put hanger 42 more firmly on the map and re-generate the visitors it deserves. I imagine there are not many, if any at all, simulator set ups to this level, so it would be a big step backwards seeing it go to waste.
