点评:I booked a private lesson (1 pax) with Dawn Patrol Surfing School and clearly stated that I was a complete beginner and had never surfed before.
The initial briefing was very brief. Once in the water, the instructor (Angga) stayed far away from me most of the time, unlike other instructors I observed who stayed close to their students and guided them step by step. It felt like my instructor was more focused on surfing himself than on teaching. At one point, the instructor suddenly pushed my board into a wave without any warning or instruction. As a first-time surfer, I was completely unprepared, the wave went over me, my board flipped upside down, and I fell into the water. This was frightening and felt unsafe. No guidance was given beforehand on timing, positioning, or how to fall safely, which is especially important for beginners.
I had planned to take 3 x surfing lessons during my stay in Uluwatu, but this experience left me uncomfortable, and I ended up leaving the class early (30 mins later). Overall, the lack of instruction, attentiveness, and basic safety awareness made this a very unpleasant first surfing experience.
