点评：I spent ages researching reindeer tours as they are not all created equally. Many tours you can book through 3rd parties include the time it takes to travel there as part of the duration and you only end up doing a ride for 10 minutes yet pay a lot. As we had a rental car, I decided to look further outside Rovaniemi and found Jaakkola Reindeer Farm at 1.5 hours away and am so glad I did! We booked the lunch tour with reindeers where you have half an hour meeting and feeding the reindeers before going on a half hour sleigh ride before warming up with a lunch consisting of reindeer soup (vegetable option available), bread and pastries. It was followed with stories about reindeers and the Saami people.
Great tip, if you look to buy a reindeer hide, DON’T get it in the shops but here! We paid €150 for a really beautiful one when a hide the same size was going for €250-€300 in tourist shops.
All in all, this was an incredible experience. Reservations is absolutely a requirement and it is clearly stated on their website. Do note you are very exposed to the elements and we saw temperatures change dramatically from day to day.
From -8 to -26 overnight so when booking, do ask yourself whether or not you can manage it at that temperature.
We will cherish our visit for the rest of our lives as it was a long held wish to do a proper snowy reindeer sleigh ride in Lapland.
