点评:While the Center is beautiful, the parking situation is terrible. I went to see the Alvin Ailey Ballet, (wonderful performance), and arrived downtown 50 minutes before the show was supposed to begin. There were no police officers directing traffic and the line to get into the parking garage reached two blocks. After waiting in the traffic line for 50 minutes we finally turned onto Alexander St to enter the parking garage, only to be told, (after the turn), that the lot was full, and we needed to go to the Aquarium. A police officer, a sign, or someone else should have been posted on Calhoun Street, letting people know what was going on. We had to walk several blocks back to the Gaillard after finally parking. There were MANY people going through this same situation. Apparently, the show started 10 minutes late, (probably because they had been advised that so many people would be late), but sadly, we still missed the first few performances. This is not the first time I've had issues with the parking there. Once I even had to wait 2 hours to get out of the parking lot. The Gaillard Center should have police officers stationed on Calhoun St., have more personnel working the parking lot, post signs about other parking areas and post signs when the lot is nearing capacity BEFORE cars turn off of Calhoun St. There were also elderly people who had to trek several blocks in the dark, unaccompanied, to get to the auditorium and then return to their cars after the show. I'm sure they were not only disappointed to miss half of the show, (due to no fault of their own), but overexerted from the walk. Please fix this parking situation!!
