Bayeux Tapestry Alternative
Reading Museum的点评
点评：Known for the replica of the Bayeux Tapestry and is a decent alternative for those who can't see the original. The one-hour tour (Saturdays?) was very informative - with stories that aren't available just by reading the text of the display. There were a lot of people so there were times when it was hard to see the portion of the tapestry that the guide was talking about. But it was cool, even without knowing a lot about English history (to those who want to read up: it's basically how William the Conqueror became king). Entrance is free, the tour is not and we booked in advance.
Short walk from the Reading station, also worth passing by to see an overview of the nearby abbey ruins before going to the ruins. First floor connected with Reading's history, 2nd floor houses the tapestry, top floor has a bit about natural history in Reading (for those who have read Wind in the Willows, there is a badger and an otter, not sure about a mole and toad...) and a narrow gallery about biscuit makers Huntley &. Palmers, which was a big industry for Reading (it later reorganized with Jacob's biscuits).
P.S. It's also a stop along the Thames Path and is the start of the St James' Way (UK Camino de Santiago). We didn't get a passport but the lovely staff stamped our blank notebook.

附注：这里也是泰晤士河畔步道上的一个站点，同时也是圣詹姆斯之路（英国圣地亚哥朝圣之路）的起点。我们没有办理护照，但友好的工作人员在我们的空白笔记本上盖了章。
