点评:You know those places where your camera roll fills up with photos of ceilings?
This was one of those places.
I visited @kokhinavruzKokhi Navruz in Dushanbe and spent most of my time looking up, walking slowly and muttering “wow” to myself.
The craftsmanship is extraordinary. Carved cedar doors, dazzling chandeliers, painted ceilings and enough decorative detail to keep an art lover busy for days.
I suspect I took more photos of roofs here than I have in the previous six months combined. My father, a retired woodwork teacher, would have been equally distracted by the timber craftsmanship.
Then, just as we were leaving, security began moving through the building. It turned out the President of Georgia 🇬🇪 was due to visit.
For a brief moment I considered whether they might be preparing for the arrival of The Wandering Reviewer.
Then reality returned.
Still wandering. Still writing.
Still wandering. Still writing.
