A vibrant street, shopping, historic buildings, something for all to enjoy
Corso Umberto I的点评
点评:Saturday 19th July we visited the coastal City of Olbia on the northeastern side of Sardinia.
While we were here we walked along this predominantly pedestrianised vibrant and busy street, which is a main thoroughfare and tourist attractions in the City.
It stretches for about 750 metres from Via Principe Umberto, by the waterfront up to the train station and level crossing at the top of the street.
We started our walk at the Town Hall Hall and we walked the length of the street.
It is lined with boutiques, bars, restaurants, ice cream kiosks, souvenir shops, historic buildings and so much. Most of restaurants, cafes and bars had outdoor shaded seating on the street.
Alongside the Town Hall at the intersection of Piazza Terranova Pausania and Corso Umberto I are the Roman ruins, Olbia Romana Il Forna (reviewed separately).
Along the route there are a number of imposing buildings including the Communal Library with a statue of a boy chasing a seagull outside it.
We passed the City's old and new Town Halls as well as a number of classic architectural style buildings.
Leadiing from the street there are signposted pathways which lead to the Churches of Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Paolo Apostolo and Basilica di San Simplicio.
There were numerous large planters that were filled with bushes, flowers and big palm and olive trees all contributing to the ambience of the Street.
Cannot give an idea how long it took us to walk the Street as we stopped so many times and visited numerous shops.
