点评:We did not go to the summit, we hiked to the rock which was just about 2 miles from the parking lot. The first .6 miles is very steep switchbacks and after those a very long staircase… think 100+Steps. You will feel like your calves are burning and your heart is pounding out of your chest. The upside is it is shaded and pretty.
From .6 to 2 miles it is more like normal hiking up a mountain… some straight areas, some more uphills, and a few more staircases. Plus the infamous wooden planks to cover the soft ground.
During this part of the hike you will have some nice views and the view from the rock area is beautiful.
We did not continue the 1.3 miles to the summit because we were tired and couldn’t find the trail. It was also more muddy.
Down is a little tough on the legs but goes by quickly.
Trail is well maintained and in July we still had some yummy salmon berries along the way. We went on a very warm and sunny for Alaska kind of day.
If you can make it past almost dying on the first .6, I highly recommend this hike followed by a burger at the Craig Bar and Grill.
