点评：We chose Evolution after extensive research, as they were highly regarded for their business principles and treatment of their employees. We were in close communication with one of the owners, Miguel, in the month leading up to our trek. There was a lot of back and forth which caused a bit of initial confusion, but eventually we were able to confirm all the details. Heads up that there is a major fee for paying via credit card. We decided to pay in cash in person once we arrived in Cusco, but later realized the Evolution office was closed on the day we were required to pay. They were able to be flexible and allow us to pay at our pre-trek briefing, thankfully. As Canadians, it is very frustrating that the price is quoted in USD. It was an additional cost and stress to have to coordinate getting USD before our trip.
On the days of the trek, our guide, Shandi, and driver, Stephanie, made the logistics smooth and allowed us to focus on the magic of the experience. Due to a recent landslide, we had to take an alternate route and Shandi was patient and encouraging during the steep switchbacks. She is incredibly knowledgeable and enhanced our experience by taking photos, and knowing the best spots for breathtaking views. In talking with Shandi, it is clear that evolution puts an emphasis on uplifting women in the community and the impact of their work is clear.
