点评：Our trip to Nizwa and the Green Mountain (Jabal Ak Akhdar) with Mohammed from Muscat Nature Tours, was organised by the concierge at the JW MARRIOTT. What a fabulous day.
It was a 90 minute drive to Nizwan, the ancient capital, but Mohammed provided us with a great insight into the history and culture of Oman. It was a Friday in Nizwan, so we were lucky enough to experience the cattle, goats and other animal market and auctions, brilliant. From there it was a short walk into the absolutely magical souks, experiencing the smells, tastes and every conceivable item for sale. And then, a short walk to the huge ancient fort when it was the capital of Oman.
We now progressed towards the mountains, but stopped for a great luncheon experience at a local restaurant.
Now a drive, we will never forget, up a brilliant new highway, over 2000 feet up into the most spectacular mountain scenery. From 28 deg C to 16 deg C. With views across mountains and valleys and into a village perched on the side of the mountain. Absolutely breath-taking.
Sadly, it was time to return to our hotel. Mohammed was our perfect host, guiding us through every element of the most perfect memorable day. Thank you.
