点评:A very impressive stately home, which has the children's museum within it. During this visit the house had an exhibition in the middle floor of children's clothing. The children's museum is in a separate area, which I did not visit.
The architecture, paintings, ceilings and furniture are impressive but the exhibition itself impacted the ability to truly admire it. To be fair having themes or exhibitions within historic properties is normal, sometimes with seasonal changes, so it is down to personal feelings on this.
The staff I spoke went from being very knowledgeable and keen to share knowledge, often without asking, to younger members who did not want to engage!
I went on a Friday in school holidays and children's activities were offered, but yet in the house, you often could have rooms to yourself. One staff member explained they were trying to inspire children in history, through activities learning what they can touch, or when not.
It is hard to be negative generally, but it would be nice to see the house with just the existing art and furniture, but that is probably possible during the rest of the time.
Ultimately a beautiful house
