点评:So, if you have five minutes to spare and fancy looking at a collection of items that could easily have been left in somebody's attic for a few years, then Minehead Museum might be for you.
Inside, you'll find the characters from the toxic relationship that is Punch and Judy, some old photographs, a model of a pier that Minehead apparently once had, and a handful of artefacts that you would normally expect to see occupying a small corner of a larger museum. Here, however, they make up pretty much the entire attraction.
The museum itself is no bigger than a small garage or a particularly ambitious garden shed. Thankfully, admission is free, which is just as well because charging for it would feel a little criminal.
The person on the desk barely acknowledged our arrival, let alone our departure. Not everyone is blessed with outstanding interpersonal skills, and that's fair enough, but this went beyond reserved and firmly into silent.
With that in mind, I wouldn't particularly recommend a visit unless you have a few minutes to kill on a rainy day. If the sun is shining, there is so much more to do in Minehead that would be a better use of your time.
As someone who loves museums, I'm glad I've done it. Unfortunately, there is very little here that would make me want to return.
It's free, it's harmless, and it fills a few minutes. Beyond that, however, Minehead Museum struggles to justify its existence as a visitor attraction.
