Teamsport Go Karting Farnborough的点评
点评：I recently visited this track in February with my Son who is 13 as he wanted to try karting.
I booked a 2 x 15 min open session and we both really enjoyed it.
On arrival we were greeted with a smile from the team on reception, we got a stamp on our hands, we were then given our suits and gloves ( we both already had our own balaclavas, but if you don’t have your own you can buy them at the track) and we’re directed to the changing rooms and then told to go straight upstairs and wait to be called.
In the bar we purchased some drinks and we got talking to Lilly, she had a big smile and welcomed us, she was really kind and asking my son if he was excited and said to him not to be worried and go out and have a good time and listen to the Marshalls if he needed any advice.
As this was an open session there was different levels of drivers and ages, so there was some very quick drivers that obviously go there a lot. We were called down to the briefing room and the video is about 10 mins long, it just explains about the lights and what you need to do with the different colours. And also the flags.
The track is a great test for racing, I have seen a lot of people on here complain that it’s like an ice rink and way too slippery. The bottom of the track is slippery in certain corners but you as the driver have to learn the best way to take these. It was our first time karting and I know my son did crash a few times coming down the ramp on the first 15 mins, the Marshalls are very quick to get the karts facing back in the right direction or of the barriers so that the lights can go green again. After the first 15 minutes, the Marshalls did speak to my son as he asked how he could take the corner better than they gave him really good advice and they also did the same with a few others. We had about a 10 minute break and was then called back down to get ready for race number two this time everybody was a little bit quicker and there was less crashes. Yes on the bottom section a few people did spin out, but it’s also part of the fun and learning.
After we finished, we went back up to the bar area and we could see our track times, and how we did. We were then offered a race again. Voucher at a discounted rate it was 50% of so I asked my Son if he wanted to do it again and. Of course he said yes which made me happy as I also enjoyed it.
While we were there we looked in to what memberships they offered and I purchased an elite membership for myself, and this costs £34.99 for the year and comes with lots of different benefits. So it was a really good deal. I have since been back on my own and done lots of different types of racing and also started going to the members evenings, the members are there to have really good fun and they’ve given me so many good tips. I’m within the last three weeks I’ve managed to get average lap time over the course of the race down to 43 seconds, the members of events are really good. The racing‘s clean and fun but the members themselves are all there as I said to have some really good fun and they make you feel really welcome as somebody new and made some good friends and also connections for work.
They also have a race Academy for Young drivers, they hold these on a Sunday and Monday, my son wanted to join but I wanted him to have a few more sessions and also take him to some early sessions on a Sunday to make sure he can get out of bed on time and he’s not too tired.
I’ve decided that I will get him into the academy. I have purchased it for him, for this the age is from 8 to 15 and they have different Levels, beginner, intermediate and then advanced, As he’s already been out on track and done some racing and they can see he has got quicker and can handle the adult karts. He has to do one beginner class and then they will move him straight up into the intermediate level and then as he progresses he will eventually move to advanced. When he turns 16 his license will automatically change to the elite status. Again with this he gets lots of benefits and discounts, but the best thing after racing they have a book and the instructors will sit down with them and point out where they’re making mistakes, and give them tips on how to go faster and how to take cornering better it’s a great deal and with the discounts it offers and it’s not overly expensive things to do on the weekends for him as it’s something he really enjoys and will make friends and I am sure and I have seen the older ones in the Academy, also giving tips to the younger drivers.
Everyone at the track a really friendly and are so helpful. There so many names to mention, but too many to put on here(m ( and I am also still trying to remember there names ) . But I would like to say thank you to Fletcher, Lily, both Daniels, Adam, Mitchell just to name a few but honestly everybody is so helpful and all they want to do and see is everybody going out and having a really good time.
Really looking forward to continue racing here and then start looking at some other tracks locally that we can go to get a little bit more experience in the future.
And for those that are moaning but the track is like an ice rink and way too slippery, I would suggest that you slow down and start to learn and listen to the advice that you’re given by the team. In fact, when the track is a little bit slippery, it makes it more fun and challenge to drive on and we’ll actually make you a better writer.
Keep up the great work at team sport Farnborough it’s really is a good track and a great bunch of staff. I would highly recommend that you go and enjoy some great racing experience for all ages. 😁
