A MUST visit experience in Olympia
Klio's Honey Farm的点评
点评：f you are in Olympia, you MUST visit Klio's honey farm. Our visit took place late in the afternoon on May 1st. It was a cold, overcast day.
When we walked up to the farm, we were greeted by Klio who then escorted us to the backyard to begin our experience. We were seated at a small table and given some much needed water and a spoon of preserved Quince, which I had never had. Klio explained that Quince was the forbidden fruit that Adam and Eve were tempted with. Temptation aside, the preserved Quince was incredible. Klio took the Tim to explain her family tradition behind it, which I find to be important.
Klio then gave us the two experience options, we chose the shorter version. We began our experience in the small museum which was housed in her grandmother's home. Klio explained the beekeeping process which I knew very little about. Up to this point, we had seen honey being sold everywhere, but we learned from Klio that to the Greeks, honey is a religion, and has been a part of Greek life going back to antiquity.
After the museum, we moved to the front yard to sample some of Klio's honey which was poured over Diples which are thin, crispy dough sheets that are rolled or folded, fried until golden in olive oil. very bite was heaven.
We could not leave without buying some of Klio's honey and preserved Quince. While making our purchases, we got to meet Klio's family who were so very welcoming. We then got on the topic of the Greek diet which Klio and her family took the time to explain to us based upon their daily life. Needless to say, we are incorporating many aspects of it into our daily life.
