点评:To be fair, this is not a 1-star, fake tour or shoddy fly-by-night operation; the trip “technically” met all parts of the plan. That said, it was far from the luxury guided excursion we were sold. We booked with Moon Palace Grand and the write-up was absolutely nothing like the trip we received. To start, we we’re promised “Round-trip transport on a deluxe air-conditioned panoramic bus with an onboard restroom.” We were put on a completely full and cramped 15-pax van with no A/C and uncomfortable seats and no bathroom. Next, “ A morning box lunch is served on the bus. Unlimited onboard drinks (water, soda, and beer) are included, alongside a traditional regional buffet lunch” We got a, literally, greasy paper sack with a cookie, an apple, and a juice box. There was water but nothing else on board. The buffet was a few tortillas and a couple local chicken dishes which were nasty. We did not eat lunch. Thankfully, we packed some snacks. “ Guided access and free time at Chichén Itzá” The guided portion was the “guide” leaning over the passenger seat of the bus and alternating in English and Spanish as he delivered a presentation he had on a small iPad. When we got to Chitzen Itza, he escorted us to the end of the 15 minute sales trail that ended at the pyramid and then told us to be back at the entrance in 90 minutes. No guided explanations. We tagged along with a couple other groups to hear some good information. We found out, however, that most groups had 3 hours there not 90 minutes so we quickly took off to see as much as we could. 90 minutes of fast walking in 100 degree heat was not an enjoyable tour. The Ceynote swim, which did include a locker, towel, and zip line to the water, was the trip highlight, especially after the hot run. The Valladolid stop was meant to get you to buy local items as part of their tour arrangement. It was a waste of time. The actual highlight was the trip running long because one of the couples got lost in the town and we had to make up about 45 minutes, so the the driver drove like a bat out of h*ll to get us back for people’s dinner reservations. That guy was flying and my kids had a fun time as he banged over bumps and whipped around turns. Not nearly as much fun for my back, though.
In summary, I would recommend Chitzen Itza and the Ceynote, but not the tour group or the Moon Palace booking. I would book the reservation myself and verify the bus, the food, the times, etc. Definitely give yourself at least 3 hours in Chitzen Itza.
