点评：Do this trip with the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation and see how native plants and animals are being reintroduced to the island. It's a quick speedboat ride to the ile aux aigrettes with a knowledgeable guide taking you on a tour. Marjorie was wonderful, telling us about the animals, plants and history of Mauritius. It is very hot and humid in summer beneath the forest canopy so take plenty of water. We saw tortoises, fruit bats, small skinks, pink pigeons and Mauritian fodies. Of course being in the wild it's luck of the draw what you see. The botanicals are also interesting, though. We learnt about slow-growing ebony, nailwood, bottle trees and many more. The plant nursery shows how ongoing work continues to reintroduce lost species. All in all a great couple of hours and all entrance fees go into conservation work. Much better to support this vital work as tourists than to chase dolphins and turtles. Please.
