I rented a kayak from River Rats in Lanesboro today, and I can't say enough good things about Ken.
Partway down the river I got into a real pickle. I was heading straight for a tree, and the paddle is what kept me from hitting it face first — but I lost the paddle in the process. I ended up hanging onto tree roots and called Ken.
The paddle was his own favorite, which he had kindly shared with me. He came out, stayed patient and calm, and got me safely out of there. Gracious and kind from start to finish.
A big thank you also to Trish and Mike, two passersby who stopped to help me. Strangers like that make a hard moment a lot easier.
If you're paddling in Lanesboro, rent from Ken at River Rats. You'll be in good hands!
