点评：My visit to Bohemia Manor Farm was not for the wine or any event today, but to learn more about this historical property dating from 1660. Two of the structures were listed with the Maryland Historic Trust, which attracted my attention. The century old brick manor house built in 1920 is at the back of the property with a beautiful lawn sloping down to the Bohemia River, offers lodging. Nearby is a large gravestone dedicated to the founder, Augustine Herman. One should note that the main highway running east of the property is named for him. That is quite fitting since Herman had undertaken the first mapping of the area for Lord Calvert of Maryland in the colonial days. The property features vineyards on the rolling hills, a winery, and a restaurant. The ruins of the second historic building are located near the restaurant and are fenced. When the property was surveyed 20 years ago some of the walls were still standing, but now little remains upright and according to staff, not warranting reconstruction. A historical marker on the Augustine Herman Highway states in the language of the time "BOHEMIA MANNOR Granted 1662 as 4000 acres in the farr remote, then unknown wilderness to Augustine, native of Bohemia, for making a mapping of this province." Regranted 1663 as 6000 acres erected a manor in 1676. Even though none of the original buildings remain, the restaurant and winery are designed in a style that provides a historic atmosphere at this 17th century property. Now that I've soaked in a bit of history, I hope to return to taste the wine and food.
