点评：My husband and I were in Alaska so that he could cross his last two national parks off his list- Gates of the Arctic and Kobuk National Parks. We made reservations with Golden Eagle Outfitters for a two-day window to fly to the parks due to the chance of bad weather. We flew in from Anchorage on Alaskan Air and were greeted by a representative of Golden Eagle as we got off the plane. He said the weather was great that day but questionable the next and asked if we were ready to go. The rep took our luggage in his truck and directed us for the short walk to their office. There were about 12 of us scheduled to go that day. The company is owned by Jim, his son, Jared, and a cousin, and their operation was seamless. Jim flu three of us in a small four-seater Cessna, and Jared flew the other eight in a bigger Otter. The views from the sky were amazing- blue skies and spectacular scenery. Unfortunately, there was also smoke from wildfires, but we were not bothered by them. We landed at Gates of the Arctic first, on a rocky river beach. Beautiful setting and pictures were taken- they provide a sign! Then we flew to Kobuk, which consists of miles and miles of sand dunes! Again, time to explore a bit and take pictures. Interestingly enough, the highest temperatures we experienced in Alaska were here, inland with no sea breeze!
We spent the night at Nulligvik Hotel. It was a very nice, clean hotel with a decent restaurant. There are not many options for either in Kubetze. There is also a nice little museum next to the airport.
