点评:I took this trip having done the longer journey from Perth to Adelaide 15 years ago.
It's an enjoyable way to travel but not probably the prestige event that it used to be. Small operational issues - i received communication from them quoting different check in times, check in itself was a bit disjointed and the baggage retrieval could all have been better. Small things that with a bit of a greater focus on customer service could be improved.
The staff themselves were excellent - the food decent but not five star and the carriages need a bit of TLC. You dont necessarily expect wifi or power sockets on a historic train but you do expect it to look cared for.
I understand the company was taken over a few years ago by a US private equity firm and it has that feel of under investment often associated with those companies looking for short term cash generation
