点评:Kaw Point Park is located in the center of Kansas City's metropolitan area. But it remains in a natural state with wooded trails, wild flowers and wildlife. Almost as Lewis and Clark saw it -- 222 years ago. The Lewis and Clark expedition arrived at Kaw Point, the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, on June 26, 1804. They camped here for three days on their way from St. Louis to the Pacific Ocean. Today, this 10-acre wooded park along the shores of the confluence offers great views of the Kansas City skyline. Open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., the park features a 1,500-foot-long boardwalk that is wheelchair accessible, canopied trails totaling 600 yards in length and suitable for biking and hiking and a boat ramp that was constructed in 2004 at the confluence of the rivers for recreational boaters and fishermen, a popular launching site for kayaks, canoes and motorized boats. Multiple species of wildlife call these rivers home -- bald eagles, blue heron, falcons, ducks, geese, fox and deer. In 1804, Lewis observed the area teemed with deer, elk, bison and bear and the water in the Missouri River was muddier than the water in the Kansas River.
