Safari Comes Alive During Cooler Weather

点评：We rode the Kilimanjaro Safaris on a chilly weekday morning (20 minute wait). We noticed that many animals were more active during the cooler weather. Usually asleep, the painted dogs were chasing each other. We saw three cheetahs in the open and a large mandrill walked near our jeep. There was a bloat of partially submerged hippos that stared at us as we passed - was it warmer in the water?
We also saw a pride of lions sunning themselves on the rocks, a small herd of elephants with a baby elephant, a tower of giraffes including the mother giraffe who stood very close to the road. As always, there were white rhinos, different antelopes and gazelles, grazing gnu and oxen, flamingos and pelicans but no crocodiles.
For the best views, sit on the left side of the jeep. It is a bumpy ride so tightly hold onto your cell phone while taking photos.
