点评:We visited this afternoon after a quick Google search of things to do in Penang, choosing the Ghost Museum on a whim to escape the heat. Entry was RM72 for two foreign adults.
The “museum” is essentially a series of themed rooms featuring ghosts from different cultures. Unfortunately, the displays felt cheaply constructed and the accompanying explanations were poorly translated into English, with awkward phrasing that could have been corrected with minimal effort.
Our visit lasted about 20 minutes, with nearly half of that time taken up by two photo sessions organised by the staff. While the photographer was kind and helpful, it distracted from the overall ghost-themed experience. To add to this, some themed rooms had open toilet doors connected to them, which disrupted the atmosphere.
At the end, we were led into a small souvenir area where the photos taken of us were offered for purchase. We declined, but the staff’s visible disappointment left us feeling a little uncomfortable, especially after paying what already felt like a high entry fee.
It’s clear that effort went into creating the rooms, and the staff we interacted with were genuinely enthusiastic and friendly. However, the overall experience didn’t feel worth the price of admission.
