Debbie Dolittle's Indoor Petting Zoo的点评
点评：I was impressed all around. The variety of animals was impressive, the staff was excellent, and the pens were clean (well, as cleans as can be expected mid-afternoon). The website says "there is a variety of rotating animals," but I was absolutely not expecting to hang out with a baby kangaroo, have to tell some maras that my pants were not food, and to meet a prairie dog named Britney Spears!
I did the otter encounter and the staff was very clear about "what the otter wants the otter gets, and that might turn out to be disappointing," which was reassuring from the start from a humane standpoint. The otter I met was named Pearl and she was precious and full of attitude and I love her. There were a couple of times she needed a break, so we let her take her break, and then she came back and started telling us all sorts of stories again!
I was nervous before I got there about the conditions, but honestly I was impressed. Its a little bit jarring seeing animals inside a strip mall, but I was able to see the outside pens in the back and I have just enough rural farm experience to know that looks standard for the goats, sheep, and donkeys, and the person running our otter encounter told us a lot of detail about the animals' rotating schedule and how they have their days off, off site. All in all, it was a perfect day!
