So much better than the big cruise ships

点评：When travelling on the Nile, you have a distinct dichotomy of choice with big cruise ships (blocks of flats) at one end and a Dahabiya (Sail boat) at the other.
Nothing brought this into sharper contrast than having visited the wondrous and almost deserted Temple of Edfu in the afternoon, subsequently overnighting and BBQ on an island, we sailed back past Edfu the next morning, where 18+ big cruise ships (3 abreast) were disgorging their passengers towards the temple.
Thank you to the fabulous crew and our guide Dr Abdula for making this an experience that will be remembered for a lifetime. Of sitting in luxurious splendour on the wide deck of the Nora, eating fantastic and well prepared food (all the salads et el are washed with bottled water), all requests attentively catered for (turkish coffee, hot chocolates), watching the life of Nile go by, fishermen casting their nets , cattle on the banks, darting King Fishers (black and white, there was local bird book on deck).
We also used Djed Egypt Travel to arrange our other individualised excursions (and transfers) in both Luxor and Aswan. Again, our Egyptologists were incredibly knowledgeable (if you pointed out some hieroglyphics, they would be able to interpret them for you). We had asked and paid extra for entry into the Tomb of Seti in the Valley of the Kings, deliberately priced to reduce footfall to this incredible tomb. In Aswan, in addition to the Temple of Isis at Philae we were taken to lesser known Kalabsha temple on Lake Nasser, where we were the only ones on the island (we felt so privileged). We also went to the Sofra restaurant in Luxor (part of Djed), which we highly recommend.
Finally, we would like to extend our grateful thanks to Youstina Yakoub, our main contact at Djed who coordinated everything and everything worked so well, together with additional guidance, including tipping etiquette. Shokran, Shokran, Shokran.
