Surreal Experience with an Excellent Guide. One for the Bucket List!
The Burgess Shale Geoscience Foundation的点评
点评:My husband and I drove from Calgary to Field on the morning of the hike (2 hours one way). For me, the hike intensity was moderate but the steep sections are a little challenging and might be difficult for some. I suggest bringing poles as they particularly come in handy on the way down and if it rains poles will really be appreciated. The hike was easy to access, it was mostly in the trees which helped keep us cool, and the trail was well maintained, though expect lots of roots and loose shale. I would give the hike a 3 out of 5 for the trail itself (but please note that I am a spoiled Albertan who has hiked many beautiful trails). However, I rate this hike 5 out of 5 because of the incredible views from the summit, for the charismatic and passionate Burgess Shale Geoscience Foundation guide (David), and most certainly for the experience of the Burgess Shale fossils. It's surreal to be among and touch 500 million years-old creatures - our ancestors! Add it to your bucket list.
