点评：A few days ago, I visited Almonte with family. It was a very lovely visit made even more meaningful because I did a thorough research on the town. I found the town's website to be very informative. We followed the riverwalk from behind the Old Town Hall and meandered our way past the impressive falls, old mills, and superb dining spots which afford great views of the falls which once powered the mills, fostered employment, and stimulated progress. When we visited, the gushing waters were not at their max which apparently is in Spring but one can still hear the roar. A long ago tragedy in these waters reminds one that the flow can be mercurial. We enjoyed the trip as we embarked on a scavenger hunt to identify the old mills and we even walked in the footsteps of the mill workers by climbing the staircase they used as a short cut to get to work. I encourage one to read up on the tales which abound in this town and then enjoy the hospitality of locals, dine, shop, take pictures, and make memories.
