A family tradition that never gets old
Weston-Super-Mare Beach的点评
点评：Weston-super-Mare is a place that's very special to our family. My dad lives nearby, so we've been visiting for years, and now we're continuing the tradition with his grandchildren. It's lovely being able to share some of his memories and favourite places with my children and seeing them create their own memories there too.
We don't really go for the beach itself or for swimming. The sea is usually quite cold, and one thing visitors should know is that the water can be a very long way out when the tide is low. Sometimes it feels like you're looking at miles of sand before you reach the water, and it can take quite a while for the tide to come back in. If you're looking for a traditional beach with easy access to the sea, there are better beaches elsewhere.
For us, Weston is all about spending time together. We usually walk along the seafront, stop for food, have another walk, grab another snack, and repeat! One of our favourite family traditions is looking for wishing stones, which are stones with a natural white line running through them. The children love hunting for them along the beach.
The Grand Pier is always a highlight. The children usually enjoy a few rides before spending some time on the arcade coin machines. There are also donkey rides available, which younger children especially enjoy.
Parking is very convenient, with spaces directly opposite the beach. However, it can get extremely busy, especially if you arrive around 11:00am or later. If you get there earlier, you've got a much better chance of finding a space right on the seafront. The all-day parking is around £12, which we find convenient for a relaxed day out.
There are plenty of cafés, restaurants, ice cream shops and places to eat nearby. The town centre is also within easy walking distance if you fancy a wander around the shops.
We always visit as a day trip rather than staying overnight, and we always have a great day. For us, Weston-super-Mare isn't really about the beach itself. It's about family, traditions, and sharing some of my dad's happy memories with the next generation. 😊
