点评：We visited the small café during our trip and overall had a lovely time. I had the stotie and my husband had a sandwich — both were really good. The cakes looked delicious, and our friend tried one and said it was moist and tasty. The servers were polite, though it would’ve been nice to see a smile, but the service was still fine.
We explored the mill as well, which was full of antiques and a great little find. The attendant was very friendly and shared lots of information. The only downside was that our furry baby couldn’t go inside, which was disappointing. Some items in the shop were on the pricier side, but it was still interesting to browse.
One of the biggest highlights of the whole trip was the huge field where we could walk our dogs — absolutely lovely. The area is very dog-friendly, which made the experience even better. There’s also a beautiful river where the dogs had a great time swimming.
We visited The Black Bull on both days — drinks on Friday and food on Sunday. When we had the dogs with us, the service was amazing. The staff kept offering our dogs treats and even brought over water bowls without us asking. Because of that, we decided to return for food. However, when we visited without the dogs, the service felt noticeably different, which was a bit disappointing.
The village itself is very clean and well taken care of, with clean bathrooms and plenty of bins around. We also took the train on both days, which added a nice touch to our visit.
We walked up to the “castle” — though it’s a generous term — but it was still a pleasant stop. The cider place was lovely; the lady there was really friendly and let us sample before buying. We also visited Waterford Hall — interesting, but a bit on the pricey side.
Overall, a charming visit with lots to see and do, especially if you’re travelling with dogs. The scenery, the friendly touches, and the dog-friendly areas made it a memorable little trip.
