点评:We found the Sealaska Museum more interesting than the State of Alaska Museum a few blocks away - both in downtown Juneau. This is THE place to go in Juneau to learn about native culture and history.
Be sure to ask for a kind and knowledgeable docent named Denali. There was no extra fee for what turned out to be a spontaneous, private tour. He took us out outside and explained the beautiful totem pole in front of the museum. He helped us understand the rich and complicated clan and moiety matrilineal culture of the Haida, Tklingit and Tsimshian people. Denali patiently answered our questions about the large and beautiful formline style clan house panel inside the museum.
The film in the theater was also enlightening.
The gift shop had quality jewelry, clothes, locally made items. Learn about the devil's club plant (growing by the front door) and its medicinal uses and buy salve to take home.
