Sad visit to Maletsunyane Falls

点评：I visited the magnificent Maletsunyane Falls about two years ago when the community centre and the impressive Monang Restaurant and viewing deck were fairly newly built. I visited the falls again and on Friday 20 March. What a sad experience. Firstly, the gents at the "toll gate" insisted on being paid in cash despite the notice at the turnoff declaring No Cash Payments. They miraculously found the card machine when some members of the party had no cash for the toll fee. It was heartbreaking to see how the restaurant had deteriorated. The first time I visited the place there was an art exhibition in the spacious restaurant and the restaurant was full of visitors. This time the double volume walls were bare, with only a few photographs of the falls dotted around the walls. There was one person at the till, taking orders and serving tables. There was nothing available on the menu except wings and chips. The only coffee was instant coffee, which we decided to go with after a bumpy drive on a badly damaged road (due to the heavy rains which have been besetting the area). The coffee was left on the counter, and we only figured out after a while that this was our coffee order. The obvious neglect of the place is difficult to understand given the number of visitors to Semonkong and the falls.
