点评：If you’re expecting a traditional Scottish castle filled with historic artefacts, period rooms, old folk tales and centuries of history, you might be surprised. The Inverness Castle Experience takes a completely different approach – it’s an immersive celebration of the Scottish Highlands, bringing together its people, landscapes, culture and traditions in a modern and engaging way.
Throughout the experience you’ll discover stories about the people who shape the Highlands, alongside displays celebrating Scottish dancing, music, nature, craftsmanship and contemporary Highland life. Even tartan is presented in a fresh and memorable way. The audiovisual presentations are beautifully produced and, somehow, manage to bring a tear to your eye – not because they’re sad, but because they’re inspiring and uplifting.
One of the highlights is The Spirit of the Highlands and Islands Tapestry, which is truly outstanding. The craftsmanship, storytelling and intricate detail are remarkable, beautifully capturing the history, culture and spirit of the Highlands and Islands. It’s well worth taking the time to appreciate each panel.
There are plenty of interactive exhibits to keep both adults and children engaged. Lifts throughout the building and plenty of seating make the experience comfortable and accessible for everyone. The technology enhances the experience without ever feeling overwhelming.
The views from the rooftop are spectacular, and the roof garden is a lovely place to pause and take in the scenery. We didn’t have the chance to visit the restaurant or bar, but both looked very inviting. The gift shop is well stocked with quality souvenirs, and the staff throughout the castle are friendly, welcoming and genuinely enhance the whole experience.
I highly recommend the Inverness Castle Experience for visitors of all ages. We live locally and have already visited three times with friends and family visiting the Highlands, and every one of them has come away impressed. It offers a fresh, engaging perspective on the Highlands and is well worth a visit.
