Salford Lads' Club的点评
点评：Salford Lads Club is located in Salford. I walked there and with the help of google maps it was easy to locate. The club is open to the public on certain days of the week so check before you visit!
When I came in I was greeted by Tony who is one of the volunteers at the club and a former "Salford Lad". He showed us around the club and the different rooms that there are. I was very impressed with the room with the boxing ring and the punch bags as well as the snooker room and the function room. The snooker room has the original table as well as the original triangle from when the club first opened in the early 1900's. There is also some of the original gym equipment in the club.
I was very impressed to see all the work they do with local lads and lasses including trips away from the city to different locations and pictures of the young people and places they stayed at.
I was also very impressed at the Archive Room which has names of former Salford Lads including Edward Coleman who was a former Salford Lad and also one of the Busby Babes who tragically died in the Munich Air Crash.
The highlight for me was The Smiths Room. If you are a fan of the band you will have seen the picture of them outside Salford Lads Club which has led to many fans of the band making the pilgrimage to the club. They have tapped into this market and there is this beautiful room full of Smiths memorabilia and a beautiful mosaic from the owners of Affleck's Palace.
There is plenty of merchandise to purchase and I bought a T-shirt and a key ring. I would suggest making a donation to the club for the superb work they do with young people. Like many others in the past I wanted to get a picture of me outside the club and Tony was happy to oblige.
Please visit this place to support them and the young people who come along. Both the lads and lasses.
