点评：On May 22, 2026 I went on a 3/4 day fishing charter with Captain Jason Ramer. My wife, buddy and I were on this trip together. I've fished on my own out of Bookelia several times so I'm familiar with the area and usually fish inshore. My preference was to go offshore or near shore for grouper, snapper, cobia but when we first arrived Jason seemed disinterested and wouldn't engage in conversation with us. I asked what his plan was and he said we would fish for Mangrove Snapper and Red Fish. He didn't want to go offshore because he thought it might get windy. We spent the first hour going from Bookelia to Sanibel Island which should take approximately 20 minutes, but for some reason Captain Jason doesn't want to put his boat on plane and he took the long way around to Sanibel Island. We spent most of the day slowly traveling from spot to spot. The fishing set up he used was a live shrimp on a 4/0 circle hook with a small slip sinker. We fished 6 or 8 docks with his advice of "get it as close to the dock as you can" and "we'll give this spot 5 minutes and then try the next spot." When he said "it was good here yesterday" I was dumbfounded. Captain Jason never tried another method or even targeting another species such as Tarpon. This seemed odd or lazy since this is peak Tarpon season and there were no fewer than 50 boats Tarpon fishing in Boca Grande. We had live crabs in the bait well which Tarpon love so I'm not sure why we didn't at least try fishing for them. Especially when his website features Tarpon fishing as one of his favorites. We caught a grand total 12 fish: 4 catfish, 1 snook, 14 inches long, 1 Pinfish, 3 short Mangrove Snapper, 1 keeper Redfish and 2 keeper Mangrove Snapper. Maybe he was tired from the previous day, sick or just not into it, but to say we were disappointed is a understatement. After paying $920 for this experience, I can't in good conscience recommend Ramer Fishing Charters to anyone.
