Reason for my low review is the very poor management of the payment system. NET operate a contactless tap-on system, and unlike Arriva, which takes money OFF your total if you tap off before the end of the line, NET treats a second card tap as though you are agreeing to pay AGAIN. I have made this mistake too many times and only realised because a friendly driver made me aware. It's NOT like the London Underground! Must be better signposted. 'Short hop zones' are not as useful as a coherent fare system. Additionally, maps could be improved to be more readable (as to WHICH trams go WHERE on WHICH lines, I find this confusing sometimes and it can be a bit of trial and error, or asking), and it would be handy if the NETGO app wasn't just a ticket selling device and gave up-to-date information on tram arrivals, like on the displays at the stops, as with many bus apps.
