点评:This was by far one of the single greatest experiences of my life. One of the best parts is that I had no idea what to expect; I mean, you think you do, until you pull up, get out of a van, and a real life elephant walks right up to you. It's intimidating at first, especially when you're encouraged to feed them sugar cane and corn stalks laying on the ground and when you pick them up, a fully grown elephant comes right at you. You pretty quickly learn that the elephants are super friendly, well treated and taken care of, and very gentle. Our tour started with the above mentioned elephants that were being seen at the clinic for being ill. We learned that the sanctuary held elephants that were used across the border in Myanmar for logging and they were then brought here for treatment and relocation away from that kind of abuse. Next, we met the elephant we would spend the next couple of hours with. It was a small group of people and we divided up as couples. My wife and I got to meet Lalilu (I hope I'm spelling that correctly; my apologies if I misspelled your name!). We fed her foods and learned some commands that the staff/caretakers taught us. She was so sweet and gentle! We then brushed her with foliage and then she led us down to the river where we got to bathe her. All the while, the caretakers were telling us about the elephants and the facilities. It's so very clear that they are taken very good care of. We then had snacks provided, which were actually amazing: various fruits and bananas wrapped in sticky rice. Really hit the spot. We then walked back up and said goodbye to our new friends. We got elephant hugs, which may be the best, sweetest hug I've ever had in my life.
