Excellent Viking Douro river cruise

点评：We did a 7 day river cruise on the Douro on the Viking Helgrim, which was preceded by a 2 day pre-cruise tour/extension in Lisbon.
The pre-cruise hotel selected by Viking was the Corinthia Lisbon Hotel, meant to be 5 star, but its just a big hotel primary catering to large tour groups, nothing special, don't have your hopes up too high. The Viking folks who greeted us at the hotel were very good and did a very good pre-cruise briefing, well organized and informative. The first day of the 'cruise' was a tour of Lisbon, ok. The second was on the coach for the 4 hr trip to Douro, the coach was extremely comfortable with exceptional leg room, I am 6ft 3in (1.84M), so I look for leg room, the coach was excellent. We stopped at a restaurant at Coimbra for lunch and a visiting to the University. The lunch was very good, great entertainment and food. The university visit was extremely interesting, glad we did it. Boarded the ship at 4.15.
The welcome at the ship, by the captain, officers and crew was very personal and warm. First impression very good.
We had a suite, one of the larger rooms, quite spacious and comfortable. Being a river cruise boat, there is not a lot of public space, but enough, for gatherings in the lounge need to be early/prompt to get a seat. Dining room has plenty (well enough) space, never had an issue getting a seat. Meals were fantastic and the chef did a briefing on the evening meals in the lounge, just after the hostess gave the briefing on the next days activities. Worst part here was some of the guest (you can guess what country they were from) had to talk in competition to the chef/hostess, so it was hard to hear what the hostess/chef were saying.
We had paid for the drinks package, not a lot of money, but found we had very few drinks other than meal times, but I did prefer the 'select' wines in the drinks package as most of the house wines were not of my taste.
The tours were great, as again we had the coaches with the extra leg room, and yes we did have a number of tour guides who had to talk endlessly about nothing, rather than giving pertinent information on the local sites/areas of interest. (I really don't need to know that the tours guides mother visited her aunt in this town etc.)
Al up very impressed with the Viking river cruise and yes will do another with them.

我们住的是套房，属于较大的房型之一，空间宽敞又舒适。由于这是一艘河轮，公共空间不算多，但也足够使用；不过如果想在休息室里聚会，需要早点去才能占到座位。餐厅的空间也足够用，我们从来没有遇到过没位置的情况。餐食棒极了，厨师还曾在休息室里为大家介绍当晚的菜单。就在女主人简要介绍了第二天的活动安排之后。最糟糕的是，有些客人（你能猜到他们来自哪个国家）大声说话，声音甚至盖过了厨师/女主人的声音，因此很难听清他们的讲话内容。
我们购买了饮料套餐，虽然花费不多，但发现除了用餐时间外几乎没什么机会喝到饮料。不过我倒是挺喜欢套餐里的那些“精选”葡萄酒，因为餐厅提供的普通葡萄酒大多不合我的口味。这些旅游体验很不错，我们再次坐上了带有额外腿部空间的巴士。不过，确实有一些导游只会喋喋不休地谈论些无关紧要的事情，却不肯提供关于当地景点或值得游览之处的有用信息。（我真的不想知道导游的妈妈曾在这个镇上拜访她的姑妈之类的琐事。）
