Now just a tiny and frankly dingy offering survives
Essence of Fiji Rejuvenation Centre / Transit Lounge的点评
点评：Despite what Google says, a version of this place is still open (at least as of May 2023). But, it’s no longer anything like what the pictures on TripAdvisor or Google show. So come with your eyes open! You need to ignore all the older photos and descriptions you see online - seemingly even those from 2022. This place is nothing like that anymore.
The whole offering is now one medium sized room that has been subdivided into “lounge” and “treatment” areas.
The “lounge” is just the front of the room where there are three sofas. It was very dark. You could have a snooze in there probably or use your laptop, but it’s not light enough to read a book.
The “spa”/“treatment area” is just the part of the room behind the lounge. The whole space is two armchairs and three basic treatment cubbies that have been created by adding partition walls that are not even full height. It is not a very relaxing ambience: They don’t play any relaxing music. There was a lot of foot traffic past the cubbies and chatter outside them. The noise also carries badly from cubby to cubby. But, all that aside, the massages (in terms of technique) were actually really good.
The bathroom and shower though are not good! In fact, they are gross. This was the kicker. The toilet facilities are shared with the other businesses in the large building, including a busy restaurant. The sinks were covered in someone’s hair clippings. The single shower was positively caked in mould, mud, grime and hair. The shower head was broken. There was no hot water, only cold. No soap or toiletries are provided at all. Not even towels were provided. We were incredulous that a spa doesn’t have towels. So after two requests they then went to dig around in the back for some and brought us two that were very worn out and stained - obviously not meant for guests. It is definitely the kind of bathroom we used only out of desperation.
The “business centre” and cafe are entirely separate businesses in the same building that you have to pay extra for, so to suggest they are part of the Essence of Fiji offering in current marketing is misleading. There is no food or drink - not even a water fountain - available in the Essence of Fiji place.
Most of the other amenities pictured in traveller photos or marketing from years past, seemingly even 2022, do not appear to exist anymore, eg: there are no private day rooms, no lockers, no luggage storage, no movie room, no rooftop lounge, no salon, no gym, no yoga/other exercise facilities at all - at least not that were offered to us. This business should really ask Google and TripAdvisor etc to take all their old stuff down since it’s now so incredibly pared back.
NB: This also isn’t truly what most people probably think of as a transit lounge, as it is completely separate from the airport. You have go through immigration and customs and take a 5-10 minute taxi.
